Wet Stone Tips
These wet stones are very soft and sacrificial. The stone can be permanently soaked in water or immersed in water for 15 minutes prior to use. However when you come to use the finishing wet stone, although the stone is wet, lubricate separately with a squirty bottle containing 10% dishwash liquid and 90% water.
With a wet stone the sludge that forms works like a cutting compound, similar to cutting compound used on vehicle paintwork. This sludge helps the sharpening process.
Soon the website will include alternative very high grade Arkansas stones that can be lubricated with any of these:
- Water
- Turps
- Canola oil
- CRC
- WD40

Tips for Oil Stone
